2/8/2017 4:48:00 PM | Field Hockey
Five Syracuse student-athletes were rewarded for their work in the classroom and on the field Wednesday, earning All-ACC Academic Team honors.
Elaine Carey (Nutrition Science), Laura Hurff (Health and Exercise Science), Lies Lagerweij (Sport Management), Emma Lamison (Bio Science) and Regan Spencer (Broadcast and Digital Journalism with a minor in Global Security Studies) were honoed from the Orange.
Syracuse's five honorees trails just Duke (seven) and Wake Forest (six) for the most in the conference.
Hurff was one-of-five players on the list to have made the All-ACC Academic Team more than twice. Lamison earned her second nomination to the squad in her two years with 'Cuse.
All-five players earned NFHCA All-Region honors this season, with Lagerweij, Weers and Hurff earning All-America honors as well. That same trio were also First Team All-ACC selections for their play in 2016.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
