GREENSBORO, N.C. – Quarterbacks Eric Dungey and Zack Mahoney, offensive tackles Cody Conway and Michael Lasker, and tight end Cameron MacPherson were named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Football Team, announced Wednesday, Feb. 8 by Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford.
Â
Syracuse's five selections tied for the fifth-most of any school. Only Duke (14), Boston College (6), Pittsburgh (6) and Wake Forest (6) had more student-athletes named to the 66-man team, which was selected from a pool of 143 nominees submitted by their institutions.
Â
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his undergraduate and/or graduate academic career.
Â
Dungey, a finance major, played in nine games last fall and ranked in the top 15 nationally in four statistical categories, including finishing sixth in the country in completions per game (25.6). Mahoney turned in a historic performance in the season finale at Pittsburgh. He accounted for a school-record seven touchdowns, including tying the SU single-game standard with five TD passes. The LaGrange Park, Ill. native was 43-for-61 through the air for 440 yards and added 49 yards rushing to finish with a career-high 489 yards of offense.
Â
Conway, a sport management major, played in nine games at left tackle with eight starts. He logged 699 snaps and recorded 20 knockdown blocks to help Syracuse amass 5,290 yards of offense, the second-highest season total in team history. The Orange generated more than 500 yards of offense in four of Conway's eight first-string appearances, including a season-best 668 yards at Pittsburgh. Â
Â
Opposite Conway, Lasker played in all 12 games at right tackle, starting four. He holds an undergraduate degree in communication and rhetorical studies and is currently pursuing his master's degree in instructional design, development and evaluation. Lasker saw the field for 460 snaps, including a season-high 92 versus Notre Dame, and registered nine knockdown blocks.

Campbell Trophy as college football's top scholar-athlete, MacPherson holds undergraduate degrees in international relations and television, radio and film. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Pan African studies. MacPherson played in all 12 games last fall, starting three. He caught five passes for 34 yards.
