The Syracuse men's lacrosse team is back on top of the Maverik Media Poll for the first time since May of 2015 on Saturday.
'Cuse was tabbed as No. 1 by the media voters, collecting 649 points and 25 of the 33 first place votes. Hofstra – the lone undefeated team left in Division I – is No. 2 with 593 points and six first place votes. Maryland (580/two first place votes), Denver (540) and Albany (488) round out the top-five.
In addition to the Great Danes, who obtained the No. 5 spot this week, SU has already faced No. 6 Army, No. 8 Duke, No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 13 Johns Hopkins and No. 18 Virginia on its 2017 slate. The Orange have yet to face No. 17 North Carolina and No. 20 Binghamton, with those two games coming as the next-two Saturday affairs before the ACC Tournament.
'Cuse continues action on Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome when the team hosts longtime rival Cornell at 7 p.m. on Spectrum Sports and ACC Network Extra.
