4/17/2017 9:40:00 AM | Men's Lacrosse
For the first time in seven weeks, the No. 1 team in the Maverik Media Poll remained on top for a second-consecutive week, and that team is Syracuse (10-1, 4-0 ACC)
The Orange won both their games this week, downing Cornell 15-8 on Tuesday, before winning the ACC Regular Season Title on Saturday at North Carolina in a 12-11 overtime win on Saturday.
'Cuse collected 28 of the 45 first-place votes, good for 692 points in this week's poll. Maryland sits in second with 662 points and six first-place votes. Denver (620 points), Duke (591 points, one first-place vote) and Albany (517 points) round out the top-five in succession.
Binghamton, Syracuse's opponent on Saturday, is receiving votes in the poll.
In addition to the Bearcats, previous 'Cuse opponents are well represented this week, with Syracuse having defeated four of the nation's top-eight teams and boasting a 5-1 record in games vs. teams currently ranked. Syracuse has defeated No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Albany, No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 8 Johns Hopkins and No. 16 North Carolina on the year, with the only blemish on their record coming at the hands of No. 12 Army West Point.
Face off on Senior Day in the Dome is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday in conjunction with the Spring Showcase for the Orange football program, which gets underway at 10 a.m.
