Ten NCAA Tourney Teams Highlight Women's Soccer 2017 Schedule

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's soccer head coach Phil Wheddon has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2017 season.
Ten NCAA Tournament teams highlight the 18-game slate, including seven teams ranked in the NSCAA final poll in 2016. 'Cuse will play 10 home games in 2017, including a seven-match homestand in August and September.
The Orange will kick off the 2017 season at Bucknell on Aug. 18. Syracuse will then host Connecticut (Aug. 21) at SU Soccer Stadium for the first home matches of the season. 'Cuse will travel to take on Army (Aug. 24) and Florida on Aug. 27 in Gainesville. The Gators were a No. 1 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
On Aug. 31, Syracuse will begin its seven-match homestand that starts with Cornell. The Orange will host Fairfield (Sept. 3), Colgate (Sept. 7) and Harvard (Sept. 10) to round out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Syracuse will host Miami on Sept. 15 to start Atlantic Coast Conference play. They will then host Wake Forest (Sept. 15) and Clemson (Sept. 24) before traveling to North Carolina (Sept. 30). Clemson advanced to the third round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament while North Carolina played for the College Cup in 2016 before falling to West Virginia, 1-0.
The Orange will stay on the road to start October, playing three-straight road games at Pittsburgh (Oct. 5), Notre Dame (Oct. 8) and North Carolina State (Oct. 14). Syracuse will host Virginia (Oct. 19) and Duke (Oct. 22) before closing out the regular season at Virginia Tech on Oct. 26.
Syracuse will play exhibition matches at Penn State (Aug. 5) and at Rutgers (Aug. 12) to begin the season.

'Cuse returns 68 percent of its scoring offense from the 2016 season and rising-senior goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan. Brosnan finished 2016 with the second most saves in the ACC, registered six shutouts and had a 1.31 goals against average.
