Schools will play home-and-home in 2018 and 2019
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse and Western Michigan have agreed to play the first football series between the two programs, the schools announced on Monday, June 5.
Â
Western Michigan will host the Orange at Waldo Stadium on Sept. 1, 2018 in the season opener for both teams. The Orange welcome the Broncos to Central New York on Sept. 21, 2019. To help accommodate the return trip by Western Michigan to Syracuse, the Orange's road game with Maryland previously scheduled for Sept. 21, 2019 has been moved to Sept. 7, 2019.
Â
"We have a great deal of respect for Western Michigan and the Mid-American Conference," said Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack. "Western Michigan has a long history of success. We look forward to a competitive series."
Â
Both Syracuse and Western Michigan have been playing football for more than a century and have a total of 1,272 victories between them (Syracuse – 716, Western Michigan – 556). The Broncos are in their first season under former Orange offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tim Lester.
