SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team opens its season on the road at Bucknell on Friday at 7 p.m. Syracuse is coming of an 8-8-3 season with a 7-1-1 record in non-conference action during the 2016 campaign.

Returning Orange
The Orange return 14 letterwinners from the previous season including nine starters. 'Cuse captains Eva Gordon and Alana O'Neill lead the returners in goals (four) and points (nine), while sophomores Taylor Bennett and Sydney Brackett pace the team in assists (three) and shots (41), respectively. Senior captain Courtney Brosnan will be back between the posts for Syracuse after starting every game last season and ranking second in the ACC in saves with 93. Â
Â
Orange Newcomers
'Cuse welcomes ten new players to the program this season, nine freshman and a sophomore transfer, for the largest incoming class since 2014. The new faces for the Orange include two National Team participants, two All-Americans and three All-Area selections.
Â
Offseason Adventures
Two Orange players, Lysianne Proulx and Georgia Allen, have been working with National Teams in the offseason. Proulx, a freshman goalkeeper for 'Cuse, was invited to the Canadian U20 National Team camp in August. Allen represented Syracuse on the England U19 team in the UEFA Women's EURO Championship, scoring two goals in a Finals match against Italy.

Scouting the Bison
Syracuse owns a 0-1-0 record all-time against Bucknell with the only game between the two schools coming last season in Syracuse. Gordon notched her second goal of the season but Bucknell posted two late second-half goals to take the win. The Bison are coming off a 16-2-2 season in the Patriot League with an 8-1-2 non-conference record. Kendall Ham returns for the Bison after posting 15 goals and five assists in 19 games for Bucknell last season.

The Orange return to Syracuse for the home opener on Monday, Aug. 21 against the University of Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The Orange are hosting youth organizations as part of Youth Club Appreciation Night.
