SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team officially reported to campus on Tuesday to begin preparation for the 2017 season.

The Orange will hit the practice fields on Wednesday for a short camp and scrimmage before loading the buses and heading out on the road for a pair of exhibition games leading up to the start of the 2017 season. 'Cuse takes the pitch on Aug. 18 for the first match of the regular season at Bucknell.

The team returns to Syracuse for the home opener on Monday, Aug. 21 against the University of Connecticut. Admission to all regular-season home matches is free.

Syracuse returns 14 letterwinners from the previous season, including nine starters, while welcoming nine newcomers to the team. The returning members account for 68 percent of the scoring from 2016, in addition to the return of assists leaders Taylor Bennett and Sydney Brackett. Senior Courtney Brosnan returns in goal for 'Cuse after ranking second in saves in the ACC in 2016 with 93.

"We are really excited about the players that are joining our program," said head coach Phil Wheddon. "As time goes on, we feel that we get more and more competitive and we are excited to see what the group can produce in the 2017 season."
Some of the promotional nights for the 2017 campaign include Alumni Weekend, Military Appreciation Night, Student Appreciation Day and Pink Day to name a few.
