'Cuse Opens Season on Saturday

The Syracuse cross country teams begin their 2017 campaigns on Saturday, with the Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate.
Ranking the Orange:
- The Syracuse men's cross country team was picked third in the USTFCCCA Preseason Coaches Poll this week, the same spot the Orange concluded last year in at the NCAA Championships.
- The 'Cuse women's team is receiving votes in the poll.
ACC Preseason Predictions:
- The four-time defending ACC Champions – one title for every year the program has been in the conference – the Syracuse men were again picked to claim the ACC title.
- Syracuse has won five-straight conference titles dating back to their final year in the BIG EAST and claimed seven of its last eight conference meets.
- The women's team is picked to finish third in the league in the poll that was voted on by the conference's 15 head coaches.
Last Year at Harry Lang:
- The Syracuse men and women swept the podium.
- In what was her collegiate debut, Madeleine Davison led the Orange women with a first place finish, followed by fellow true freshman Emma Wilson. Paige Stoner rounded out the top-three in her 'Cuse debut.
- Griff Molino won the men's race, followed by a trio of then true freshmen who were racing unattached – Dominic Hockenbury, Joe Dragon and Aidan Tooker. Shawn Wilson, Nick Ryan, TJ Hornberger and Simon Smith rounded out the scoring.
