'Cuse Picked Second in CHA Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Syracuse ice hockey team was selected as the No. 2 pick in the College Hockey America Preseason Coaches' Poll by the league's six head coaches, as announced Wednesday by the league. The Orange received a first place vote and was picked second behind reigning CHA champion Robert Morris, who racked up 25 total points as the preseason favorite.

Since joining the CHA in 2008, Syracuse has played in six CHA Championship games including three consecutive appearances since 2014. The Orange boast a 76-59-23 (.554) all-time CHA record and tabbed a program best 16 conference wins during the 2016-17 season.

3. Mercyhurst - 17 points
4. Penn State - 11 points
5. Lindenwood - 8 points

Syracuse hosts the University of Ottawa for an exhibition game on Sept. 24 before traveling to the Midwest to take on Bemidji State in the season opener on Sept. 29.Â
