Coast-to-Coast Battle Set for Friday

The Syracuse cross country team will compete in the Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday for the first time since 2015. 'Cuse men's team took home the team title last week at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational for the second-straight season, while the women finished third.
The meet is expected to be the season debut of All-Americans Colin Bennie and Philo Germano.

Last Time at Coast-To-Coast Battle:
- The Orange ran the Panorama Farms Invitational this weekend last year, so this will be the first trip back to Boston since their NCAA Championship season.
- In 2015, 'Cuse men took home the winning title and the women finished second overall.
- The men's team finished in the top-two at the event each of the last-three times they've raced in Beantown.
- Senior Justyn Knight won the overall race, followed by 2015 grad Martin Hehir and senior Colin Bennie to sweep the top-three.
- Shannon Malone finished second in the women's varsity 5K (16:51), leading the team to its second-place finish.
- Adam Palamar and TJ Hornberger took first and second in the Open Race 5K.
- 'Cuse men's team won the title while the women's team took third place behind Penn State and Georgetown, but ahead of ACC foe Pitt.
- Aiden Tooker and Paige Stoner were the runners up for the men and women, leading the way for the Orange.
- Tooker ran the 5.2 mile course at under a five-minute pace, finishing at 25.50, only four seconds behind Penn State's winner Colin Abert.
- Kevin James finished fourth overall after finishing first at the Harry Lang Invitational (26:14).
- Paige Stoner led the Orange with her mark of 21:10, taking the overall win.
- Freshman Julien Webster (21:34) finished ninth overall, Shannon Malone (21:49) finished thirteenth and Madeleine Davison (21:53) finished sixteenth.
- The Syracuse men's cross country team maintain the No. 3 spot in this week's USTFCCCA poll, while the women's team are receiving votes.
- The Orange women rank fourth in the Northeast Region.
