SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team (4-1-1) seeks its third consecutive win on Thursday night against Colgate (1-4-0) at SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange are coming off back-to-back shutout victories over Cornell and Fairfield. Â
Â
Last Time Out
The Orange posted its second consecutive 3-0 win against Fairfield on Sunday. Freshman Kate Donovan notched her third goal of the season just two minutes into the game. Sophomore Carolin Bader recorded her first career goal on a header off a corner kick by Jessica Vigna. Sydney Brackett posted her team-leading fourth goal of the season to cap off the victory for Syracuse.
Â
Home Sweet Home
The Orange are in the midst of a seven-game home stand, the longest stretch of home games in program history. Syracuse has excelled at home so far this season, posting a 2-0-1 mark including a pair of shutout wins. Over half of the Orange's 13 goals this season have come at home and the team has only given up one goal at SU Soccer Stadium thus far in the 2017 campaign.
Â
Freshman Feature
Donovan has recorded three goals in two games for the Orange, earning her first career start against Fairfield on Sunday. The freshman sits tied for third among ACC freshman for goals scored.
Â
Scouting the Raiders
Colgate holds a 1-4-0 record on the season and is coming off a 2-6 loss to Mississippi State. Sophomore Abby Sotomayor paces the Raiders with two goals on the season. Sophomore Kelly Chiavaro has started four of the five games in goal for Colgate, making 19 saves while allowing 16 goals against this year. Like Syracuse, Colgate finished the 2016 campaign 8-8-3 with a 3-4-3 non-conference record and a 4-4-1 mark on the road.
Â
Up Next…
The Orange will honor military members during their military appreciation game at home on Sunday against Harvard. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and admission to all home games is free. The first 100 fans will receive complimentary military-themed sunglasses.
