- Sophomore Tyus Battle scored a career-high 37 points to lead the Orange in the setback. He shot 11-of-27 from the field, 5-of-9 from 3-point range and 10-of-13 from the free throw line. Battle ranks third in the ACC with 20.1 points per game.
- Freshman Howard Washington saw significant time off the bench for Syracuse. He totaled career-highs of 24 minutes and nine points.
- Tuesday night marks the 112th meeting between the longtime northeast rivals. The Orange hold a 66-45 advantage in the all-time series versus the Panthers. The two schools split the season series last year, with each team winning at home.

- Pittsburgh enters the contest with an 8-10 overall record and a 0-5 standing in ACC play. After defeating Towson in their final non-conference game of the regular season, the Panthers have dropped five-straight to Miami, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Duke and Georgia Tech.
- Jared Wilson-Frame leads Pittsburgh with 12.9 points per game this campaign. Ryan Luther (12.7 ppg.) and Marcus Carr (10.5 ppg.) round out the double-digit scorers. Luther averages 10.1 rebounds per contest and Carr has a team-high 70 assists.
