PHILADELPHIA – The Chicago Fire traded for the 10th overall pick and used it to select Syracuse sophomore Mo Adams (Nottingham, England) in the 2018 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft held on Friday, Jan. 19 in Philadelphia. It marks the second consecutive year that a member of the Orange has been selected in the top 10 and the fourth straight year that at least one has been taken in the first round.
Adams was a two-year starter for the Orange in the midfield. He earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team honors in 2017 after starting all 16 matches in which he played. Adams was named to the Watch List for the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, which goes to the top collegiate player in the nation.
In his rookie campaign in 2015, Adams was selected to the All-South Region Second Team and the All-ACC Third Team. In addition, he earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors. Adams started all 19 matches in which he played and recorded his first career goal at Hartford. Adams, a member of the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, was also honored for his work in the classroom as a member of the ACC All-Academic Team.
The first two rounds of this year's draft were held at Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
