Numerous Wins Highlight Upstate Challenge for Orange

Numerous wins and finals loaded with 'Cuse athletes highlighted the day at the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
The men's 60-meter hurdles was nearly and all-Orange affair, with seven of the eight finalists on the men's side representing 'Cuse and also taking the top-seven spots. Angelo Goss picked up the win for the second week in a row, coming away with a time of 7.82 seconds. Matt Moore (8.08), David Gilstrap (8.09), Richard Floyd (8.11), Jamil Adams (8.12), Chevis Armstead (8.22) and Kelvin Almonte (8.85) rounded out the dominant event from the Orange in succession behind Goss. Freshman Andrew Aguilera (8.47 seconds), missed out on the final by just 0.04 seconds, taking 11th.
The women went one-two in the 60-meter hurdles as well, with Danielle Delgado (8.50) edging out teammate Aviana Goode (8.64) to take the top-spot.
The women's 60-meter dash final was loaded with Orange as well, with Justice Richardson (7.56) getting the win to lead four 'Cuse runners who qualified for the final. Eunice Boateng took third in 7.69 seconds, while Victoria Parker placed sixth (7.80 seconds). Imani Clark (7.66 seconds) was the top qualifier of prelims but did not compete in the final.
Kashif Miller turned in a win for the men in the 60, crossing the line in 6.85 seconds, while Chuka Soronnadi finished seventh (6.99 seconds).

Aidan Tooker picked up another win for 'Cuse in the 1000-meters, leading a group of three 'Cuse distance runners inside the top-five at the meet. Tooker crossed the finish line in 2:26.77, while Noah Affolder (2:27.78) and Philo Germano (2:29.02) finished third and fifth, respectively.

Jalen Racine finished third in the 400, crossing the finish line in 51.44 seconds.
Nathan Henderson (4:18.18) and Andy Paladino (4:19.82) finished second and third respectively in the mile, trailing just Evans Kibet of Siena by less than a second in Henderson's case.
Three women turned in top-10 performances in the 1000-meters, led by Rachel Bonner (2:56.53) finishing fifth. Sydney Leiher was right behind in sixth (2:59.16), while Alexandra Cooper took 10th in 3:12.64.

Leaping to 6.73 meters in the long jump, Pascal Bastein finished fifth for the Orange, while Randall Johnson followed that performance up with a third-place mark in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters.
Olivia Elston finished ninth in the women's mile, crossing the line in 5:18.76, with teammate Kelsey Potts closely behind in 10th (5:19.20). Kayli Jones finished 16th in 5:28.06 and Ryley Higgins placed 24th (5:40.82) to round out the Orange in the event, in what was a season debut for all-four athletes.
Hannah Loder competed in the seldom raced 500-meters for the Orange, finishing sixth in 1:23.05, while Kwaku Agyemang represented the men, finishing 13th in 1:09.05.
Declan Kottmeier led a 'Cuse duo in the 3000-meters, placing eighth (8:59.12). Matt Cavallaro (9:26.05) finished 15th.
Cheyenne Trigg, Dasia Pressley, Alexis Harper and Hannah Loder closed out the evening with a second place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The group crossed the line in 3:59.59.
'Cuse is back in action next weekend at a pair of meets.
