'Cuse Clashes with Colgate on Friday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange are set to take on in-state rivals Colgate in their second match of the season, Friday afternoon at Drumlins Country Club. First serve is set for 3 p.m. with the doubles round occurring first, followed by the singles portion of the match.
Last Time Out
The Syracuse women's tennis team opened their 2018 season with a 7-0 sweep of Niagara on Jan. 21 in a non-conference matchup. The Orange came away with dominant victories in both the doubles and singles portions of the event.
The No. 1 pair of Anna Shkudun and Sofya Golubovskaya and the No. 2 duo of Maria Tritou and Dina Hegab each tallied 6-0 victories in the doubles round. The third set, Nicole Mitchell and Libi Mesh, finished off the doubles point for the Orange with a 6-2 victory.
Golubovskaya is off to a great start as she made her first appearance for the Orange. She cruised to victory in the No. 2 singles match against junior Andreea Peteau 6-1, 6-1. Junior Gabriela Knutson and Shkudun also defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-1 to continue the Orange's victory run.
Scouting the Raiders
In the 2016-17 season, Colgate went 9-9 and finished the year 3-1 in the Patriot League. The Raiders have been untested in the 2018 season with their first match coming against the Orange on Friday.
Colgate looks to combine senior leadership and experience with promising freshman in the 2018 season. The Raiders are led by senior captain Kelly Klein, who posted an overall record of 12-9 last season, going 10-6 in singles play and 2-3 in doubles action.
