2018 Schedule
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse will once again face one of the toughest schedules in the country in 2018. The slate includes dates with defending national champion Maryland as well as national runner-up Boston College. Overall, 12 of the Orange's 17 opponents this season are ranked in Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook preseason top 25, including four of the top five.
Â
"To be the best, you have to play the best," said Syracuse head coach Gary Gait. "We will face several tough teams, many of them on the road. We should be battle tested by May for the postseason."
Â
Syracuse opens the season at home against Connecticut on Feb. 9. The Orange then travel to Oregon to face the Ducks for the first time in program history on Feb. 18. After a home contest against Albany on Feb. 22, Syracuse opens ACC play at Virginia on March 4. The Orange return to the Carrier Dome to host back-to-back games against national powerhouses Florida (March 7) and Maryland (March 11).
Â
Syracuse takes on Harvard in a neutral site game on March 16 before going on the road for four straight games, all against teams that competed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The road trip starts at Cornell on March 20 before the squad heads to the Midwest to take on Notre Dame (March 24) and Northwestern (March 26). The road swing concludes on March 29 at Princeton.
Â
After hosting Duke on March 31, the Orange go back on the road to face Loyola (April 5) and Virginia Tech (April 7). Syracuse concludes the year with three straight ACC contests – at home against North Carolina (April 14), at Boston College (April 19) and at home against Louisville (April 22) in the regular-season finale.
Â
The ACC Tournament is scheduled for April 26-29 in Durham, N.C. The ACC champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
