Orange Return to Action at Brown, Harvard

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team hits the road for almost a month as the Orange continue their 2018 campaign. 'Cuse heads east to take on Brown and Harvard on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, respectively. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. on both days.
Last Time Out
The Orange are coming off a weekend sweep, defeating both Boston College (5-2) and Yale (6-0) to move to 6-1 on the season. With the win over Boston College, the Orange snagged their first ACC victory of the season.
Miranda Ramirez and Gabriela Knutson remained perfect at the No. 1 doubles position, posting a pair of 6-4 victories. Meanwhile, Knutson and Hegab are 5-0 and 6-0 on the season in their respective singles positions.
Freshman Sofya Golubovskaya played a grueling three-set battle against her Boston College opponent, emerging victorious 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 on Friday. She came out to play on Sunday, tallying the match-clinching point for the Orange with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win against Yale. Her two-win effort earned her ACC Co-Freshman of the Week honors.
Moving On Up
After a pair of victories this past weekend, Syracuse tennis climbed into the top 50 in the Oracle/ITA National Team Rankings. The Orange check in at No. 43 as a team, the highest the team has been ranked since May 5, 2016 when it jumped to No. 25.
The doubles pair of Knutson and Ramirez come in at No. 19 in the doubles rankings, in addition to a No. 18 ranking for Knutson in the singles poll. This is the second consecutive week that Syracuse has placed a duo in the top-20 nationally.

The Orange return to conference play on March 2, taking on Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. before traveling to Chapel Hill to meet the Tar Heels in Sunday match.
