Orange Fall to No. 9 Robert Morris

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse ice hockey team fell 5-0 to No. 9 Robert Morris in game one of the final home series of the regular season, Friday night at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
"It's disappointing because you could kind of sense before the game that we had some decent energy," said head coach Paul Flanagan. "I think we had some grade-A chances but they scored right after the power play. It was 1-0 and to come out the way we did in the second period was disappointing."
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
The Orange came out firing in the first period, outshooting the Colonials 16-3 through the first 20 minutes. However, Robert Morris got on the board first thanks to a goal by Jessica Gazzola halfway through the first frame.
It was all Colonials in the second and third as the visitors added four more goals, three in the second and one in the third to take a 5-0 lead, which they held for the rest of the game. Two of the five Robert Morris goals came while on the power play.
FOR THE SENIORS
The Orange will recognize five seniors tomorrow – Alysha Burriss, Stephanie Grossi, Megan Quinn, Dakota Derrer and Abbey Miller.
The four skating seniors each played over 100 games for the Orange, led by Burriss who suited up in 138 games for Syracuse. The seniors combined for 103 career goals and 161 career assists (264 career points), with all four finishing their careers with positive plus/minus ratings.
The only senior goalie, Miller, started in 60 of her 65 games played as an Orange. Heading into the weekend, Miller holds a 1.95 career goals against average and has totaled 1267 career saves, good for a .915 save percentage. The senior set a program record with 11 shutouts during her career.
