DURHAM, N.C. -- Sophomore Tyus Battle scored 12 points to lead Syracuse in a 60-44 setback at No. 5/5 Duke on Saturday, February 24.
Â
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half as both squads were 0-for-10 from 3-point range. Battle's basket at the 10:42 mark cut Duke's lead to 12-8, but the Blue Devils (24-5, 12-4) outscored the Orange, 15-4, to end the half and took a 27-16 lead to the locker room at halftime. Marvin Bagley III tallied the final four points before intermission, which included a dunk with five seconds on the clock to give Duke its largest lead of the first half. For Syracuse, the 16 points were the lowest it has scored in a half this season.
Â
The Orange (18-11, 7-9) twice cut the deficit to seven in the second half, the second time coming after a pair of free throws by Battle made the score 37-30, but that was as close as Syracuse could get.
