BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Freshman Oshae Brissett scored 20 points with 10 rebounds to lead 11th-seeded Syracuse in a 78-59 loss to sixth-seeded North Carolina Wednesday night in the second round of the New York Life ACC Tournament.
Sophomore Tyus Battle finished with 15 points and junior Frank Howard totaled 12 points.
Theo Pinson posted 16 points and 11 boards to lead the Tar Heels. Kenny Williams scored 17 points and Luke Maye and Cameron Johnson each added 13.

Syracuse trimmed the North Carolina lead to nine with 4:17 remaining and a 12-2 run by the Tar Heels put the game out of reach.
Game Summary
Back-to-back 3-pointers from Battle gave the Orange an early 8-7 lead. North Carolina retook the lead, but a Marek Dolezaj dunk along with a 3-pointer by Howard put Syracuse up 13-11.
The Tar Heels used an 11-0 run to take a 12-point lead with 5:16 to play in the half. Brissett knocked down a trey to send the Orange into the locker room, trailing 39-29.
North Carolina remained in control early on in the second half and held a 56-35 lead after a 10-2 run. Howard scored seven points and Bourama Sidibe added a layup to power a 9-1 run that trimmed the Syracuse deficit to 12 with 6:43 to play.
Howard hit a jumper and Battle converted a 3-point play to pull the Orange within nine.
Numbers of Note
North Carolina shot 25-of-57 (.439) from the field and held Syracuse to 20-of-63 (.317) shooting. The Tar Heels finished with a 42-37 advantage in rebounds and outscored the Orange 36-22 in the paint.
Brissett produced his 12th double-double of the year. He shot 7-of-14 from the field, 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.
Sidibe finished with four points and 10 boards on the night.
