Three members of the Orange moved on to the NCAA Quarterfinals on the first night of the NCAA East Prelims.
Jamir Brown won his heat in the 110-meter hurdles, automatically advancing him to Friday's quarterfinals. He crossed the line in 13.45 seconds, over two tenths ahead of anyone else in his heat. Isaiah Hayes placed 32nd after posting a time of 13.98 seconds, ending his season.
Benne Anderson also earned an automatic qualifying spot in the 1,500-meter run. He advances to Friday's quarterfinal by taking third in his heat (3:48.85). Drew Zundell ran to a time of 3:53.44, ending his season after an All-ACC finish in the event last week.
Elijah Mallard secured the last automatic spot in his heat by a late push across the finish line in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished in 50.63 seconds, in what ultimately proved to be one of the faster heats, with Cincinnati's Camden Beatty – who Mallard bested by 0.02 seconds – also advancing as the fastest qualifier on time.
Peter Walsdorf led the way in the first semifinal race of the meet, taking 14th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:13.59 – two spots out of qualifying for the NCAA final.
