Edward M. Thompson
College Activities: Commodore of Crew, Senior Ball Committee, Senior Executive Committee, Honorary Senior Society, Phi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity and Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Alumni Activities: President of the Varsity Club two years, worked each year for the class of '33 on the telethon to raise money. Affiliated with the Syracuse Inter Collegiate Rowing Association Regatta Commission and the Touchdown Club.
Professional Career: Partner in the Mark A. Thompson Coal Company, President of the Apple Tree Ridge Corporation, Vice President of the D.T. and E. T. Corporation, President of the Thompson Water Works Company, Inc., and President of the Thompson Sanitation Company- all of Manlius, N.Y.
Military: Served as a Major in the Air Force in the Southern Pacific, at Cebu Island he distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious conduct behind the enemy lines over a period of two months prior to the invasion of that island. He received the Bronze Star.
Community Activities: He was one of the founders of the Limestone Creek Hunt Club, was president in 1946. He founded the Junior Hunt Club in 1950, was Master of Fox Hounds for seventeen years. He was also a director of the Limestone Pony Club. He provided thirty acres of land for the children to ride and train their horses. He was a Member of the Masters of Fox Hounds Association of America, the United States Pony Club and the United States Combined Training Association. He was chairman of many horse shows for the benefit of many charities.
He was a member of the Syracuse Rotary Club and the DeWitt Community Church. He served on many committees in those organizations.
