Joseph Spector
Basketball – 1938
Professional Career: Upon graduation, practiced law from 1942-1946. Joined the firm of Spector-Cadillac, Inc., as full time executive in 1946 and presently is Vice President. Also is Administrator of the firm’s other holding companies.
Alumni Activities: Presently is a trustee of Syracuse University. Longtime member and Past President of the S.U. Varsity Club, Director of the Varsity Club, member of the Orange Pack and Hardwood Club, member of the Syracuse University Corporate Advisory Council and Alumni Association. Past member of the S.U. Athletic Governing Board. Active supporter and follower of all S.U. athletic teams. He has been a dedicated fun raiser for many Syracuse University endeavors. He was a Sponsor to the Manley Field House Building Fund and Established the Varsity Club Room through the Spector Foundation. The Spector Room in a new S.U. Bird Library was a recent contribution.
Community Activities: Member of Onondaga County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and American Bar Association. Presently a Director of the First Trust & Deposit Co. of Syracuse, N.Y. and the Unity Life Insurance Co. Member of the Metropolitan Development Association, Cadillac Dealer Council and National Automobile Dealers Association. Director of the Syracuse Automobile Dealers Association. Past member of the Board of Lafayette Country Club and of Temple Adath Yeshurun. Member of the University club and Cavalry Club and city of Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. He is a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Tire, and a Shriner of the Tigris Temple. Is the 1974 chairman of Congressman James Hanley’s Congressional Naval Admissions Committee and a member since 1966. Was the Winner of the 1974 Time Magazine Quality Award. Active in fund raising affairs for the community. Has served on various civic and service committees for worthy area projects.
