Orangewomen Soccer Loses to Connecticut, 2-1, in Overtime
10/1/2000 9:12:32 PM | Women's Soccer
The Huskies opened the scoring in the 29th minute as a ball lobbed by Mary Frances Monroe from outside the 35 yard mark slipped through Katie Karlander's (Carmel, IN) fingers. Connecticut held the one-point lead for more than 10 minutes before Syracuse answered.
Senior captain Cindy Wolf (Fallston, MD) crossed the ball through the box where teammate Candy Reich (Pembroke, MA) punched it in to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams were unable to score in the second half, but UConn's Monroe found teammate Jen Carlson just less than eight minutes into overtime for the game-winner.
The Orangewomen will return to action October 6 at the Soccer Stadium at Lampe Athletics Complex, when they host Miami University in a 7:00 p.m. game.
