Volleyball Travels for WNY Doubleheader

Syracuse is 13-8 overall this season and 1-3 in The BIG EAST Conference. The Orange posted 3-0 wins over Canisius and Niagara in a doubleheader at the Women's Building last fall.
Niagara has a 2-9 overall record this season and are led by Tricia Traczyk's 3.42 kills per game and 32 total blocks. She is supported offensively by Vanessa Gerbetz's 2.54 kills per game. Laurie Haefner directs the Purple Eagles' offense, averaging 9.84 assists per game.
Canisius is 3-15 this fall. Jennifer Debee and Nicole Lucie are the squad's top hitters, averaging 2.56 and 2.36 kills per game, respectively. Debee has 40 blocks this season, while Lucie leads the Golden Griffins with 196 digs on defense. Kelly Sieber controls the offense, posting 7.01 assists per game.
Senior rightside hitter Dana Fiume (Island Park, NY) leads the squad offensively with a 4.64 kills per game mark. Junior outside hitter Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY) is second with 3.47 per game. Defensively, freshman Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN) averages 2.46 digs per game, while Dana Fiume has 79 total blocks on the year.
Looking ahead, Syracuse has the weekend off from competition. The Orangewomen host Cornell University at 7 p.m. on October 17 in the Women's Building. Syracuse's next BIG EAST match is October 20 against Seton Hall. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start at the Women's Building.
