The Blue Devils set the pace as leading scorer Jane McFarlanc posted a goal just 35 seconds into play to give CCSU the lead. Syracuse answered just over a minute later as freshman Nina Scalzo (Webster, NY) found Candy Reich (Pembroke, MA) to tie the game. Neither team scored again in the first half.
The second half started out just as quickly as Turner posted a breakaway goal just 39 seconds in. Less than ten minutes later, Turner found senior tri-captain Cindy Wolf (Fallston, MD) to increase the lead to 3-1. Turner recorded her second assist when she passed a goal deflection to Arsenault to finish the game at 6-1 in the 89th minute.
With the win, the Orangewomen are now 11-6 on the season, while the Blue Devils move to 6-12. Syracuse will return to action on Friday, October 20 when they host the Panthers of the University of Pittsburgh. The game will be the second of a double-header with the mens team. The men will host Providence College beginning at 5 p.m., with the womens game set to start at 7:30 p.m.
