Suttle Wins Flight At East Coast Collegiate Championship

Suttle won two matches Sunday en route to title. She defeated Renat Hlavia of Hampton 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals. In the championship match, she defeated Old Dominion's Julia Soitiriu in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Junior Katie Thompson (Wesley Chapel, FL) won the consolation bracket of Flight C. She defeated Ashley Knapp of Mary Washington College in the consolation final 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA) finished runner-up in Flight B. Saedinia, who defeated Petra Klimpova of Hampton 6-4, 6-0, was defeated 6-1, 6-3 by Mily Kannarkat of Old Dominion. Kannarkat advanced to the finals with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Orange sophomore Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia).
Freshman Margot Ahlquist (Shrewsbury, MA) won her Flight D semifinal match against Sarah Granson of James Madison, 6-3, 7-5, but lost the championship match to Gisele Ferriera of Hampton, 6-1, 6-0.
