
Manhattan Wins Orange Invitational Title

Syracuse (11-5) opened the match with a 15-6 game one win. Manhattan came back to sweep the next three games 15-7, 15-9 and 15-9.
Senior rightside hitter Dana Fiume (Island Park, NY) and junior outside hitter Carol Munger (Canadaigua, NY) had 16 kills each in the loss to lead SU. The duo also recorded four blocks, while Fiume pitched in a team-high three aces. Senior outside hitter Drisana Carey (San Diego, CA) had nine kills and three digs in the match. For their efforts, Fiume and Carey were named to the All-Tournament Team. Senior Jing Jing Wang (Beijing, China) led the Orange defensively with six blocks. Junior setter Noreen Carroll (LaGrange, IL) had 34 assists and 14 digs in the match to lead Syracuse in both categories.
Joining Fiume and Carey on the all-tournament team were Tracyann Pryce (Manhattan), Bridget Geddes (Manhattan), Laura Wagner (Northeastern), Kim Frederick (Manhattan). Manhattans Amy ODorisio was named MVP.
Syracuse opens its BIG EAST Conference slate September 29 at home against Georgetown. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start at Manley Field House.
