Cross Country Competes at Furman Invitational

Sophomore John Bitok (Kitale, Kenya/Paul Boit) was the top SU men's runner, finishing 20th among 295 runners overall and 11th among runners whose finishes counted towards team scores with a time of 26:02. Freshman Tim Scarpinato (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) placed 55th among scoring runners with a time of 27:16. Classmate Brian McNeil (Franklin, Mass./St. John's) finished 87th with a time of 27:58.
The Orangewomen were led by junior-transfer Zelma Jackson (Aurora, Colo./A. Phillip Randolph/Barton County CC), who finished 37th among scoring runners with a time of 23:49. Fellow junior Aleccia Boland (London, Ont./Banting) finished 46th with a time of 23:58. Freshman Leah Folmsbee's (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) completed the course in 24:03, good for a 49th-place finish.
Both men's and women's teams will next compete at the BIG EAST Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 26.
