Women's Soccer Ready for BIG EAST Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse University women's soccer team will close out its 2001 BIG EAST season against Virginia Tech at the Soccer Stadium today at 1 p.m.
Syracuse (9-6-0, 2-3-0 BIG EAST Northeast Div.) is coming off a 2-1 loss to Villanova at the Soccer Stadium on Friday night. SU is led by sophomore forward Nina Scalzo (Webster, N.Y./Webster)), who has posted a career-high 20 points this season on nine goals and two assists.
The Hokies (8-8-3, 1-3-1 BIG EAST Northeast Div.) are in their first year of play in the BIG EAST Conference. This will be Virginia Tech's third game in four days. On Thursday the team defeated Howard, 4-0, before losing 2-1 at Liberty on Friday.
This is the first meeting between SU and Va. Tech.
