
Year XVI: Boeheim 25 Years In 25 Days

The Orangemen tipped off their preseason play last night defeating Upstate AAU 96-77 in the Carrier Dome. The 16th season of the Jim Boeheim-era at SU was led by play of freshman Lawrence Moten. The Orangemen won the BIG EAST title that season, defeating the Hoyas to claim the championship.

BIG GAME: BIG EAST Title Win Against the Hoyas
Despite a 23-point performance from Alonzo Mourning, Syracuse defeated the Georgetown Hoyas 56-54 in the finals of the BIG EAST tournament. This is Syracuse's third BIG EAST Tournament title and first in five attempts against the Hoyas. The Orangemen were led by Lawrence Moten's 20 points and seven rebounds. Mike Hopkins scored 15 points. Dave Johnson and Lawrence Moten were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
