
Carroll Selected To Academic Volleyball Team

SYRACUSE, NY - Syracuse University volleyball player Noreen Carroll (La Grange, IL/Lyons Township) was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District I team. This is the second consecutive year that Carroll has received this award.
Carroll, a senior setter, is SU’s all-time assists leader with 4,831. She stands first in career assists per game (10.79) and ranks in the top ten for single-season assists four times. In her final season at Syracuse, Carroll was selected as BIG EAST Player of the Week twice, named ECAC Player of the Week and was Tournament MVP of the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn, AL.
An inclusive elementary education major, Carroll is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and a six-time Athletic Director’s Honor Roll member.
She is joined on the team by Yolanda Bogacz of Rhode Island, Kim Frederick of Manhattan, Stefanie Rewitz of Hostra, Gianina Pellegrini of Northeastern and Jaimee Reynolds of Cornell.
Carroll advances to the national ballot and the results will be announced Dec. 13, 2001.
To be nominated a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve on his team with a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. The District I team is compiled from NCAA Division I football teams from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
