AUBURN, AL The Syracuse University softball team lost to Ohio State, 2-1, on Sunday, Feb. 11 in the first elimination game of the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn University.

Trailing 2-0, the Orangewomen (1-4) scored their only run in the top of fourth. Sophomore Jackie Herrman (Warren, OH) hit a one-out single, and was lifted for pinch runner Becky Snyder (Wilkes-Barre, PA). Snyder went to second on Cheryl Julichers (Williamsville, NY) sacrifice, and scored on freshman Jaime Grillos (Brentwood, NY) double to left. Junior Heather Brown (Bloomfield, MN) took the loss for the Orangewomen. In six innings of work, Brown (1-3) gave up six hits and two earned runs while striking out six. Katie Chain (1-2) earned the win for Ohio State (3-2), and Wendy Allen pitched three innings for the save.

Syracuse will be back in action on March 2 when it travels to College Station, TX to play in the Aggie II Invitational.
