Sports Illustrated for Women Names Orangewomen Lacrosse to its Preseason Top Ten

Led by Katrina Hable (Camillus, NY) and Lauren Brady (Acton, MA), the 2000 Orangewomen finished the season with a 12-4 record. After losing its first three games to ranked opponents (Virginia, Maryland and Georgetown), Syracuse went on to post the longest winning streak in program history with 11 consecutive victories. The season was ended with an 11-10 loss to Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
This season, the Orangewomen return 23 members from last year's NCAA Tournament team including Hable, Brady and Street & Smith's preseason All-America selection, Carrie Soults (Washington, D.C.).
The Orangewomen will open the 2000 season when they host Virginia in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team on Saturday, March 3 at the Carrier Dome. Game time is set for noon, with the men's game following at 2:30 pm.
