Orange Tennis Splits Weekend Matches

The match against Rutgers marked the second shutout of the season for Syracuse. Syracuse took all six singles matches. At number one singles, senior Michelle Neveklovska (West Vancouver, British Columbia) defeated Carissa Sommerland in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Zuzanna Borucka (Gdansk, Poland) posted a 6-4, 7-5 win against Jennifer Hellier at number two.
Sophomore Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) had a 6-3, 6-1 win at number three against Amanda Travlos. Sophomore Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA) recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at number four singles against Andrea Weckstein. Junior Katie Thompson (Wesley Chapel, FL) won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, against Kaitlin Link. Freshman Zani Suttle extended her winning streak to four matches, with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Shain Ling Lee at number six.
Syracuse claimed the doubles point with a pair of wins. Neveklovska and Borucka dealt Sommerland and Weckstein an 8-2 defeat. Kabanova and Saedinia posted an 8-0 shutout against Hellier and Link.
Friday evening, the Orangewomen won matches at number one and six singles. Neveklovska posted a 6-4, 7-5 win against Cierta Yard at the top singles spot. Suttle earned a three-set win against Kelly Surbaugh, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3. Suttle claimed her second win of the day at number three doubles. Suttle teamed with Thompson to defeat Surbaugh and Laura Freddaking, 8-5.
