
SU Tennis Defeats West Virginia, 5-2, in BIG EAST Match

SU won four of six singles matches, each in straight sets. Senior Michelle Neveklovska (West Vancouver, British Columbia) won her match at number one singles, 6-4, 6-2, against WVU's Helen Adams. Neveklovska moved into ninth place all-time in SU history with 132 career wins. She needs two victories to tie former teammate Shareen Lai (1996-2000) for eighth place. Sophomore Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win against Courtney Howell at No. 4 singles. Junior Katie Thompson (Wesley Chapel, FL) won her No. 5 singles match 6-1, 7-6 (9-2 in the tiebreaker) against Jennifer Watkins. At No. 6 singles, freshman Zani Suttle (Roswell, GA) recorded a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Emma Jeremiejzcyk.
SU won two out of three matches in doubles action. Neveklovska and classmate Zuzanna Borucka (Gdansk, Poland) defeated Earles and Howell, 8-4, in first singles action. Saedinia and sophomore Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia) won at number two doubles, 8-4, against Adams and Underwood.
The Orange host Boston College at 10 a.m. Sunday at Drumlins on Nottingham Road.
