
Soults Leads No. 10 Orangewomen in 11-7 Loss to No. 1 Maryland

The Terrapins took an early 3-0 lead before Soults' first goal at the 23:39 mark. Maryland answered posting another goal just six minutes later before Lauren Brady (Acton, MA) set off a 3-0 SU run to tie the game at 4-4 with 9:50 left in the first half.
Maryland posted two more goals in the remaining minutes to enter the intermission with a 6-4 advantage. When the teams returned to the field, UM posted three more goals increasing the deficit to five. Soults answered once again posting two goals, but the Terps never allowed SU within less than three for the remainder of play.
Sophomore Sami Stock (Radnor, PA) recorded her second goal of the season as she found the back of the net to cap the SU run in the first half. Carla Gigon (Hingham, MA) had a career-high 17 saves in net for the Orangewomen who are now 0-2 on the 2001 season. With the victory, Maryland is now 3-0.
The Orangewomen return to action on Saturday, March 17 when they travel to take on No. 3 Georgetown University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
