Syracuse is now 4-9 on the season, while Nebraska improves to 20-9.
Arnold's home run in the fifth inning gave the Huskers a 1-0 lead. Nebraska added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Kim Ogee led off with a single and stole second. With runners on the corners and two outs, the Huskers executed a double steal with Ogee taking home. An RBI single by Leigh Suhr in the top of the seventh gave Nebraska its final run of the game.
The Orangewomen managed just one hit off Huskers' starter Penny Cope. Cope gave up a two-out first-inning single to Jackie Herrman (Warren, OH), but then retired the final 19 Syracuse batters in order. She struck out three en route to her fourth win of the season without a loss.
Syracuse starter Tara DiMaggio (Hopewell Junction, NY) allowed five hits and struck out five in her first complete game of the season. She retired the first eight Nebraska batters before giving up a hit to Katie Decker in the third inning. DiMaggio's record now stands at 1-3 on the season.
Syracuse must now wait for the completion of pool play to determine its next opponent in the elimination portion of the tournament. The Orangewomen will be seeded anywhere from fifth to eighth due to their second-place finish in their pool.
