Orangewomen Split Doublheader at Binghamton

Syracuse is now 8-17 on the season, while Binghamton stands at 6-16.
Brown allowed just three hits and struck out 11 in the complete-game victory. Her record now stands at 4-8. In her last four outings, Brown has struck out 49 batters in 34 innings of work, including three games with 10 or more strikeouts.
Senior Missy Bieman (Wingham, Ontario) drove in the game's first run with a triple to right field in the top of the fourth. Freshman Jaime Grillo (Brentwood, NY) led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. She scored from first on Bieman's first triple of the season.
The Orangewomen plated another run in the fifth. Sophomore Christina Holowich (Castro Valley, CA) doubled to start the inning. After a walk, put runners on first and second, Grillo delivered a base hit to right to score Holowich.
Holowich led the offense with three hits. It was her second three-hit game of the season.
Sophomore Tara DiMaggio (Hopewell Junction, NY) threw eight shutout innings in the nightcap, but the Orangewomen offense couldn't plate a run as the Bearcats took the 1-0 win.
Binghamton's Kim Gruber drove a two-out double to right center that scored Melissa Lavin for the game-winner. The run ended Syracuse's streak of 31 consecutive innings without allowing a run.
DiMaggio dropped to 3-7 on the season despite allowing only four hits. The sophomore righthander struck out nine without allowing a walk.
Syracuse gets back into conference action when it hosts Connecticut on Saturday, April 14. The first game of the doubleheader gets underway at 12 p.m.
