Kaluskova Advances to Flight A Singles Semifinal of the Maryland Invitational

College Park, MD — Sophomore Daniela Kaluskova (Prague, Czech/ Gym Budejovicka) has advanced to the Flight A singles semifinal of the Maryland Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland, in College Park, MD, September 29-30.
Juniors Masha Kabanova (Moscow, Russia/ School #528) and Shervin Saedinia (Woodland Hills, CA/ Calabasas) have advanced to the Flight A doubles semifinal. Sophomore Margot Ahlquist (Worcester, MA/ Notre Dame Academy) made it to the semifinal of the Flight C singles bracket.
In the opening round, Kaluskova defeated West Virginia's Courtney Howell, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6). Kaluskova went on to defeat Pam Floro of Maryland, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, en route to her semifinal match.
Kabanova and Saedinia defeated the Penn State tandem of Sarah Spence and Leigh Ann Merryman, 8-4. Ahlquist defeated American's Melissa Rausch, 6-4, 6-0, to advance to her semifinal match.
In the Flight A singles opening round, Katie Thompson (Weslet Chapel, FL/ Saddlebrook Academy) defeated West Virginia's Maia Binder, 6-4, 6-4. Thomspson lost her second round match to Maryland's Delila Causevic 6-1, 6-4. Kabanova and Saedinia both lost their opening round singles matches. Kabanova won her consolation match, while Saedinia advanced in the consolation via a walk over.
