
Orangewomen Look to Extend Winning Streak

Syracuse, N.Y.- The Syracuse University women's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to five against the University of San Francisco at 4 p.m. today at Manley Field House.
The Orangewomen (7-3 overall, 1-0 BIG EAST) are coming off an 81-66 victory against Vermont on Dec. 30. Five Orangewomen scored in double figures, including a team-high 16 points from sophomore forward Chineze Nwagbo (Lanham-Seabrook, Md./Duval).
Senior forward Jazmine Wright (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) is averaging 16.0 ppg during SU's four-game winning streak and sophomore guard Julie McBride (Mechanicville, N.Y./Catholic Central) leads the team, averaging 18.4 ppg.
Syracuse received a vote in the latest ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first time since the 1995-96 season. SU is also ranked 21st in the latest ratings power index (RPI).
San Francisco (6-5 overall, 0-0 WCC) has won six of its last eight games, including a 65-56 victory against Utah on Dec. 30. The Lady Dons run a balanced offense with junior guard Alicia Hernandez leading the way with 10.2 ppg. USF has seven players averaging six points or more per game.
This is the first meeting between the two teams.
