The Syracuse softball team wrapped up a successful 2002 fall campaign, finishing 12-1 through three tournaments and a doubleheader.
The Orangewomen defeated LeMoyne College and Cornell at the SU Invitational on Sept. 22 before finishing second at the NYSCO Tournament in Cicero. SU finished 4-1, beating Binghamton and Albany twice before losing to the Great Danes in the championship game.
Following a mid-week doubleheader sweep of Colgate, the Orangewomen traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the season finale. SU defeated Eastern Michigan twice and edged Central Michigan, 5-3. The highlight of the fall season was a 6-4 victory versus the Wolverines, a 2002 College World Series participant.
The Orangewomen will open their spring season at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feb. 21. SU returns 11 letterwinners from last year's team that went 25-21 overall and finished third in the BIG EAST with a 12-6 mark.
