Cross Country To Compete At Albany Invitational Saturday

Junior John Bitok (Kitale, Kenya/Paul Boit) is the Orangemen’s top runner. He broke the meet and course records at both events he has competed in this year. At SU’s Orange Classic, Bitok ran the 8K in 24:52.46, nearly a minute faster than the second place finisher. At Gardner-Webb’s DanielChapterOne Invitational, Bitok ran the 5K in 18:41, shattering the previous meet and course record of 19:44.
Senior Aleccia Boland (London, Ontario/Banting) has been the Orangewomen’s number one finisher in all three races this season. She ran a seventh-place time of 18:19.9 at Central Connecticut State’s Blue Devil Invitational. At the Orange Classic, Boland won the women’s race in a time of 17:30.83. She also won the women’s race at Gardner-Webb with a time of 22:47.
Twenty-one schools will compete at Albany Saturday. Siena and St. Rose are among the local teams competing, while Massachusetts, Lehigh, Colgate, Fairfield and Marist are also in the field. Albany is the defending champion in both the men’s and women’s events.
