
Orangewomen Face BIG EAST Opponents at Home This Weekend

The Orangewomen return to BIG EAST competition with two conference matches this weekend. SU(16-8, 2-4 BIG EAST) faces West Virginia (8-13, 2-4 BIG EAST) on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Women’s Building. The Orange then play Pittsburgh on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
West Virginia holds a 12-4 series advantage against Syracuse and has won the last five contests. Pittsburgh (15-6, 5-1 BIG EAST) holds a 24-3 series advantage versus the Orangewomen. Syracuse last defeated the Panthers in 1999.
Syracuse is on a three-match winning streak with three victories against non-conference opponents: Siena, Niagara and Canisius. Freshman Kristen Conway (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) recorded her seventh career double-double against Canisius with 22 kills and a career-high 27 digs. Conway has hit in double figures in kills in the last six matches.
Sophomore Morgan Jones (Malad, ID/Malad) also posted a personal best versus Canisius with 24 kills. Jones has hit in double figures in kills in 10 matches in 2002. She is second on the team in kills in 220 and is first in kills per game with 3.61.
Sophomore Ashley Kimes (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley North) has recorded 27 kills in the last three matches, including a team-high 12 kills versus Siena.
