The Raiders, who have lost 36 straight games to Syracuse, own a 2-2 record and a two-game winning streak. After dropping contests to Marist (72-65) and Eastern Michigan (66-65) at the Pepsi-Marist Classic, Colgate rebounded to beat Cornell (76-58) and Hobart (92-56).
Colgate head coach Emmett Davis, now in his fifth season, is coming off the most successful campaign of his tenure, a 17-11 season mark that fell one win shy of the school record.
The Raiders have four players averaging double-digit scoring in 2002: sophomore Andrew Zidar (11.8 ppg), senior Dave Hardy (11.5 ppg), junior Howard Blue (10.5 ppg), and junior Mark Linebaugh (10.3 ppg), a former Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
For the Orangemen, freshman Carmelo Anthony is averaging 27.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Point guard Gerry McNamara owns a 16 points per game average, while senior Kueth Duany has averaged 10 points per game. Sophomore Hakim Warrick is averaging 10.5 rebounds and 9.5 points per game.
Fans can listen to the game in the Syracuse area on the SU Radio Network, 1260 AM. Mark Johnson will handle the play-by-play duties, while Matt Park will provide color commentary. The game will also be broadcast on tape delay on Time Warner Cable channel 13.
