The Syracuse women's basketball team will play its final BIG EAST regular-season road game on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Boston College. Tip-off at the Conte Forum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Orangewomen (14-10, 7-6) are trying to snap a three-game losing streak. SU lost its last game, 66-62, at Villanova. Senior guard Jaime James (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) led the team with 17 points. Sophomore Shannon Perry (Providence, R.I./LaSalle) recorded her team-leading fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Jazmine Wright (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) and sophomore Julie McBride (Mechanicville, N.Y./Catholic Central) scored 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Syracuse’s next victory will match the squad’s highest win total and ensure the program's first winning season since the 1989-90 squad went 15-13.
James, the Orangewomen's all-time leading three-point shooter, is four points shy of becoming SU's 10th all-time leading scorer. She needs just seven points to reach ninth place.
Boston College enters Wednesday’s game ranked 21st in the Associated Press poll and 18th in the coaches’ poll. The Eagles are 19-5 overall and 10-3 in the BIG EAST after defeating Pittsburgh, 64-37, on Feb. 16. BC has won four of its last five games.
Wednesday’s game will be the Orangewomen’s sixth game versus a ranked opponent this season. SU is 2-3 in its first five games with wins versus arv/#25 Cincinnati and #16/17 Virginia Tech. Syracuse’s losses have been to #19/18 Michigan, #25/arv South Carolina and #1/1 Connecticut.
The Orangewomen's final two regular-season games will be at Manley Field House. At the game versus West Virginia on Saturday, Feb. 23, dubbed "Make Manley Magical," Syracuse will attempt to break the all-time attendance record of 3,517. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. WJPZ 89.1-FM, the flagship home of Orangewomen basketball, will be giving away tickets on the air and will have special prize drawings at the game. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to win two tickets to the men's basketball game versus Boston College on March 3.
