Senior tri-captain Carrie Soults (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day School) was named a preseason first-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in the 2002 women’s preview on February 14.
Soults was one of 12 Division I players receiving first-team honors. She is joined on the team by Georgetown’s Erin Elbe as the two representatives from the BIG EAST.
This is the second time in 2002 that Soults has received preseason recognition. Lacrosse Magazine listed the midfielder as a player to watch in the upcoming season. Soults, last year’s BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, finished second on the Orangewomen squad in goals (33) and draws (25) in 2001. She was named third-team All-American by the IWLCA and was selected to the IWLCA Division I Academic All-America team.
Inside Lacrosse Magazine picked the Syracuse team to finish second in the BIG EAST behind Georgetown.
Syracuse opens its season on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Stanford at 3 p.m., eastern time.
