Seedings for the 2002 Congra Foods BIG EAST Conference Men's Basketball Tournaments are still up for grabs heading into the clash between the Orangemen and the Wildcats. Syracuse is angling for the second spot in the BIG EAST West Division, which brings a first-round bye in the league's postseason tournament
Syracuse hopes to regroup from its Feb. 24 loss to Georgetown, a 75-69 decision that earned the Hoyas a regular-season sweep of the Orange.
Syracuse and Villanova have not met since Feb. 23, 2000, when the Orangemen handled the Wildcats in the Carrier Dome, 91-63. SU leads the all-time series, 30-21, while Villanova has a 19-18 edge in BIG EAST Conference regular-season matchups with the Orangemen.
Senior forward Preston Shumpert, who moved into 10th on Syracuse's career scoring list on Sunday, leads the Orangemen in scoring average with a 19.9 mark.
