
Orangewomen Lacrosse Hits The Road For The Weekend

The Syracuse women’s lacrosse team travels to Massachusetts this weekend to play BIG EAST opponent Boston College and UMass Amherst.
The Orangewomen (2-2, 0-1 BIG EAST) have an unbeaten record of 8-0 against BC (2-2, 0-1 BIG EAST) and Massachusetts (4-1). SU faces the Eagles on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. and then takes on the Minutewomen on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m.
SU moved to eighth in the IWLCA latest rankings after losses to top-ten opponents Maryland and Georgetown. With a 5-0 record, the Hoyas now hold the No. 1 spot,while the Terrapins occupy the seventh position.
Sophomore Leigh-Ann Zimmer (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) notched her ninth collegiate hat trick and second of the season against Georgetown on Friday, March 15. Zimmer is tied for first in goals scored with 10. Senior tri-captain Carrie Soults (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day School) also has 10 tallies. Junior Kim Wayne (Scarsdale,NY/Scarsdale) leads the Orangewomen in points with 16 (eight goals, eight points).
Former Orangewomen Carrie Bolduc ‘99 is an assistant coach for the Minutewomen. Bolduc played for SU in the first two years of the program and is on Syracuse’s top 10 lists for career goals, assists and points.
Junior goalkeeper Carla Gigon (Hingham, MA/Hingham) is the only Orangewoman who hails from the state of Massachusetts. Gigon is a 1999 graduate of Hingham High School.
